§ 34-2. Court costs for use in law enforcement personnel training.

  • There is assessed by the town an additional $2.00 as court costs against every person convicted for violation of a state penal or criminal statute, or convicted of a municipal or county ordinance, where the offense occurred within the town limits. In addition, $2.00 shall be deducted from every bond estreature or forfeited bail bond related to such penal statutes or ordinance or if adjudication has been withheld under F.S. § 318.14(9) or (10). However, no such assessment shall be made against any person convicted for violation of any state statute or municipal or county ordinance relating to the parking of vehicles. Such assessments shall be collected by the appropriate court and shall be remitted to the town and earmarked for criminal justice education degree programs and training courses, including basic recruit training, for law enforcement officers and support personnel. The use and expenditure of such funds shall be in accordance with F.S. § 938.15.
