§ 2-204. Canvass of returns; declaration of result; certificate of election.

  • The result of the voting in a town election, when ascertained, shall be certified by return in duplicate, signed by the clerk and a majority of the inspectors of election, one copy being delivered by such clerk and inspectors to the mayor and the other to the town manager, both of whom shall transmit such returns to the town commission at a meeting to be held at 10:00 a.m. on the day following the election. At such meeting, the town commission shall canvass the returns, and the result as shown by such returns shall be by the town commission declared to be the result of the election. The town shall, not later than noon of the second day after the election, furnish a certificate of election to each person shown to have been elected.
